Ahhhhhhh YouTube. You bring me so much enjoyment . . . so much entrainment . . . so much knowledge. You get me.
Seriously though, am I the only person who turns to YouTube for everything? If I need to know how to build muscle, forget Google, I’m asking my homie YouTube! Yo, YouTubes “What is the best way to gain muscle?”
I’m a visual/tactile learner so it all makes sense at the end of the day.
Naturally when I decided I wanted to take my fitness to a new level I turned to my old school buddy –> The YOUTUBE!
For the past few years I’ve been following some pretty kick-ass fitness vloggers and I figured it would be a great idea to share their infinite knowledge with you! Now mind you, I’ve subscribed and unsubscribed to a number of channels, but these are the ones that really stuck.
SO, if you feel like you need a bit of extra fitness motivation or heck, maybe you want to go hard and compete in a bikini/bodybuilding competition, these channels might be your cup of tea as well! I have more than a handful I would like to share, but I’ll stick with my top 5.
Here’s the thing about Nikki; she’s that guy’s girl that we all kind of secretly want to be. I hate that I’m going to describe her this way but she’s that stereotypical girl that we all think society wants more of –> blonde hair, badass body … you know what I’m talking about. But despite that, she is super chill. She has her girlfriends but can fit in with the boys without even trying. She’s real. She’s raw. She’s honest. She never pretends to be something she’s not and she shares all phases of her journey.
2. Heidi Somers
The very first word that comes to mind when I think of Heidi is “infectious.” Her happiness and outlook on life is contagious. You can’t help but to smile when you watch her vlogs. Fun fact, Heidi was born and raised in North Pole, Alaska. It’s probably why she’s always so happy. She’s another lady that is so much more than her good looks. Heidi is a history buff, loves donuts and coffee; has a passion for travel, and goes by the name “Buff Bunny.”
3. Jen Heward
Miss Jen. This girl. THIIIIS girl. I think these photos show you what’s up. She’s as real as they come, unapologetically showing off her scars and stretch marks. That’s my kinda girl! Jen is another fitness vlogger that you can’t watch without smiling. It seems like she’s laughing every 5 seconds and I adore that about her. She is just so darn likable! I also enjoy watching her because she’s relatable. Most of the fitness vloggers that I follow are teeny tiny little ladies with a naturally small frame. Jen is about three inches shorter than I am, but she sits around the same average weight as I do. I find her figure to be attainable for the every day woman. She looks STRONG and I love that she embraces that and doesn’t try to fit into some silly standard in the industry. But most of all, her videos are packed full of knowledge and that’s crucial for women (and men!) who are new to the world of health and fitness!
Brittany’s channel is a bit smaller than the others but she packs a mean punch. She’s another fitness vlogger that obviously puts in a lot of work but she stands tall at 5’9 with a body that is attainable for women of my stature. There’s a common theme with the women I follow and Brittany is no exception. She’s relatable. She shares her experience with health and fitness from all angles, from her struggles to her successes. She’s a lover of the outdoors and it’s clear she’s recognizes what’s most important in life. Her message is not about showing women how to get the “perfect body,” but rather loving your body no matter what.
5. Amanda Bucci
I feel like Amanda might be a bit of an acquired taste for some. She’s very “to the point.” A bit more harsh at times, if you will. I appreciate it because I’m a straight shooter kind of gal when it comes to learning new things, but if you are used to the bubbly, upbeat, motivational type vlogger . . . that’s not necessarily Amanda. But here’s what she IS: positive, insightful, knowledgable, and a real girl’s girl. Recently she broke her arm in the middle of bikini prep and she’s been super positive about the whole situation. Her philosophy: complaining never got anyone anywhere <— YASSSSS! Make. Stuff. Happen! Personally I don’t watch her for her specific fitness advise as her body is very very different from my own (her waist is almost nonexistent ya’ll,) but I enjoy watching her for her positive outlook on life and the many opportunities she has been given because of her online presence. It’s fun watching others succeed!
There are many others I enjoy watching but I don’t want to make this post forever long. I will include some honorable mentions who I probably adore just as much as the ladies listed above:
Alright guys, I’ll leave it at that! I always talk about how important it is to find things that keep you motivated with whatever you are trying to achieve. It’s different for everyone. For me personally, I find motivation in watching these incredible ladies kick ass in the gym every day. I’ll even include a little tip for ya; I actually watch their videos as I’m doing cardio . . . it keeps me pushing during those moments when all I want to do is quit.
